My throat is raw:
tiny flannel lumberjacks axing bloody trails of sinew
and muscle. It burns.
My head aches:
NASCAR races in my skull. Engine exhaust blurring
my vision to a smoky quiet.
They labor and rage
against the dark matters of my body, with force and
speed and blade. Under construction,
under the delicate film
of my fluttering eyes.
